Nature Therapy (Multiple sessions)
This event will have multiple sessions: 10am, 1pm, and 6pm. Sessions are 1.5 hours in total.
Experience Nature Therapy in beautiful surroundings at Creggan Country Park and improve your health and wellbeing. Go for a walk to take in the sights and sounds of nature followed by some guided meditation next to the water. The session finished with forest bathing in the woodland.
The event takes place outdoors and is the perfect way to explore nature on their doorstep in a safe, controlled environment. Ideal for complete beginners to nature therapy or any form of meditation/mindfulness, the facilitator has years of experience getting people started on their journey of improved wellbeing. Participants will be guided around the park and various stopping points for guided meditation and breathing exercises. The event is informal, making it more accessible to people who do not like indoor talks/seminars. The event is unique due to the activity, location and interactive sessions.
The sessions benefits include:
- A perfect opportunity to get outdoors in a safe, controlled environment
- Participants will meet likeminded people and will provide socialising opportunities
- Refreshments provided afterwards.
- On the nature walk, participants will learn about the history of the site and wildlife that call the park home including 4 bat species, 43 bird species and a variety of other terrestrial and aquatic wildlife
- Participants will learn what nature therapy is, how breathing exercises and interacting with nature can reduce stress levels and improve mood.

Learn how to paint a landscape whilst sat in the great outdoors surrounded by nature. These art therapy taster sessions are a great way to get some fresh air and channel your creativity.

Ideal for complete beginners, the facilitator has years of experience teaching people of all ages how to create a work of art. Upland Plants Walk will cover topics such as plant identification, foraging, invasive species and importance of biodiversity to climate change mitigation. Hedgerow and peatland habitats will be visited.
This walk will provide the opportunity to enjoy and learn about the environment and the richness of our beautiful countryside. Annie at Butterlope Farm has worked as a wildlife education officer for 20 years and will guide participants in exploring and learning about the countryside. Topics covered in the walk will include plant identification, foraging, invasive species and importance of biodiversity to climate change mitigation. Hedgerow and peatland habitats will be visited.
The walk will last 2 hours and will take place in the evening time and 15 people will be able to attend and take part.

Introduction to organic growing through visit to polytunnel and kitchen garden. Seed sowing demonstration with packs provided to participants to continue at home.
Both workshops will take place at Butterlope Farm. A social farm located outside Plumbridge which is a unique setting and highly experienced in delivering grow your own workshops.
These will be in depth sessions demonstrating to participants how to:
- Sow seeds
- Grow and take care of their new plants
- Information and guidance advice after the event with any queries re growing and sewing
Participants will get an introduction to the following, how to grow:
- Potatoes
- Herbs/ rocket/basil, parsleyand mint
- Carrots
- Tomatoes
- Courgettes
- Leeks
- Onions
- Beetroot
- Growing from scraps
The workshops will also include the use of polytunnels and raised beds, when to sow and potting on, transplanting, thinning out and harvesting. Information will also be shared on planting outdoors to combat the late frosts. It will also cover composting and natural repellents to allow seeds to grow and thrive.

Our Crafter collects old woollen jumpers and rug ends from a factory in Donegal, beach glass and pebbles. From this collection, the wool is felted and cut into shapes to make corsages. The glass and pebbles are drilled and put together onto rings for ribbons to be added to make necklaces.
